Programming
How our workouts work
Every workout at Discovery Strength is programmed with purpose. We combine weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardiovascular training in constantly varied formats so your body never adapts to a routine. No two days are the same, and that is by design.
Programming follows a balanced approach across time domains, movement patterns, and energy systems. Some days are short and intense. Others are longer and test your pacing. The goal is broad, general fitness that prepares you for anything.
Workout Formats
Common workout types
You will see a variety of formats on the whiteboard. Here are some of the most common:
AMRAP
As Many Rounds As Possible
Complete a set circuit of movements as many times as you can within a fixed time cap. Your score is the total rounds and reps completed.
For Time
Race the Clock
Complete a prescribed amount of work as fast as possible. Your score is your finish time. There is usually a time cap to keep things safe.
EMOM
Every Minute on the Minute
At the start of every minute, perform a set number of reps. The faster you finish, the more rest you get before the next minute begins.
Strength / Skill
Build and Practise
Dedicated time to work on a specific lift or gymnastic skill at moderate volume with coaching feedback. These sessions build the foundation for everything else.
Every Level
Scaling and tracking
Every workout is scaled to your ability. Your coach will give you specific options for load, reps, or movement substitutions so the workout is challenging but appropriate for where you are today.
We record scores, times, and weights because measurable progress matters. Over weeks and months you will see exactly how far you have come. More weight moved, faster times, movements you could not do before. The competition is with your past self.
