Every class is coach-led. Our team brings a mix of coaching credentials, competitive experience, and community-building background so you always have guidance, not just a workout.
Maggie Glass
Co-Founder, Coach
Maggie started training in functional fitness in 2024 after spending many years away from exercise while raising her young family. Although she felt intimidated at first, she quickly discovered that every movement and workout could be adapted to meet her where she was at. As her strength and confidence grew, Maggie experienced firsthand how empowering strength training can be and knew she wanted to help others experience that same feeling.
Maggie recently completed her CrossFit Level 1 Trainer course, and while she has not started coaching classes yet, there's a good chance you'll connect with her when reaching out to Discovery Strength to begin your own fitness journey. Her welcoming personality and encouraging approach help new members feel comfortable and supported from day one.
Landon Walters
Co-Founder, Coach
Landon Walters is a co-founder of Discovery Strength and has been coaching and competing in functional fitness since 2017. Born and raised in Campbell River, he grew up playing high-level competitive hockey before transitioning his passion for performance into coaching. Landon brings experience working with athletes of all levels, with a strong background in developing young athletes across a variety of sports.
His coaching philosophy is centered on building well-rounded fitness that translates beyond the gym. Whether it's keeping up with sports, staying active with family, or maintaining strength and independence through the years, Landon is focused on helping members move better, feel stronger, and enjoy life outside the gym. Known for creating a positive and engaging class environment, he strives to make every session both challenging and fun, so members leave not only healthier, but happier too.
Ivan Ljubka
Co-Founder, Coach
Ivan started training in functional fitness in 2016 and has been consistently training since 2021. He brings over two years of coaching experience, along with two years as a diving instructor, giving him a strong background in teaching movement and helping people build confidence in their abilities.
At Discovery Strength, Ivan is passionate about making every workout approachable and scalable for all fitness levels. His favourite part of the gym is the community, and he loves helping members connect through his "question of the day" before class. Ivan enjoys teaching new movements, encouraging progress, and watching members grow stronger every day.
Patrick Glass
Co-Founder, Operations & Technology Wizard
While you won't usually find Patrick coaching classes, he plays a vital role behind the scenes in keeping the gym running smoothly. Patrick manages our website development, corporate administration, finances, taxes, banking, and many of the technical systems that support the business.
From setting up TVs and sound systems to troubleshooting technology and streamlining operations, Patrick is the gym's go-to technical resource. His attention to detail and problem-solving skills help ensure our members and coaches have the tools they need for a great experience every day.
Sarah Noga
Coach
Sarah has been involved in functional fitness for over 13 years and has spent the last seven years coaching athletes of all ages and experience levels. She is passionate about helping people become stronger, more confident, and more capable both inside and outside of the gym. With experience coaching balance, core, strength, kettlebell, step, spin, and yoga classes, Sarah is skilled at adapting workouts to meet each member's individual needs.
When she's not coaching group classes or personal training clients, Sarah enjoys running, spinning, and walking her dog, Xena. Her passion for fitness shines through in every class, and members can always count on her positive attitude, supportive coaching, and welcoming smile.
Amber Wilson
Coach
Amber has been involved in functional fitness since 2017, and through her own journey as an athlete she has developed a deep passion for helping others build strength, confidence, and resilience inside the gym. With over three years of coaching experience leading group classes for teens to seniors, she focuses on helping members move safely and sustainably through expert coaching and accountability.
Amber brings a big smile and positive energy to every class and believes in creating a strong, supportive community inside the gym. At Discovery Strength, she is committed to helping members feel stronger, healthier, and more confident every day. As a coach, she will always motivate you and celebrate every win, big or small.
Hannah Herschler
Coach
Hannah has been involved in sports her whole life. She competed in gymnastics for 10 years, representing Team BC at both the Western Canadian Championships and Nationals, and swam with the Campbell River Salmon Kings, where she now works as Head Coach. With years of experience coaching both swimming and gymnastics, Hannah is passionate about helping athletes build confidence, resilience, and a love for sport.
Hannah started training in functional fitness in 2023 and recently qualified for the CrossFit Games Semifinals. As both an athlete and coach, she loves helping others feel strong, confident, and capable. One of her favourite parts of fitness is being part of a community that feels like family. At Discovery Strength, Hannah is committed to creating a positive and encouraging environment where everyone feels welcome.
